Chelti, Kisi Qvevri 2021

Get to know: Chelti, Kisi Qvevri

Tasting Note

This Dry white wine is made from “Kisi” variety of grapes according to Kakhetian traditional technology in “Qvevri” (clay vessel). This natural wine is produced with the minimal intervention of the winemaker. Fermented with wild yeast – without adding cultured yeast. Aromas of overripe pear, peach, honey and spices. It has long-lasting and mouthfilling taste, gentle tannin and enough balancing acidity to keep it fresh.

A great match for spicy chicken dishes or a roast cauliflower biriyani

Kate Says

"One of my favourite orange wines so far, absolutely stunning wine. The nose shows liqueured raisins, dried apricots, quince paste and sweet plums. It's quite fresh and drinkable too, some spices coming through on finish. It's be great with a big mezze."

Producer Info

One of Georgia's finest family-owned wineries whose wines receive multiple awards each vintage. The history of Chelti Winery can be traced back to the last century, when in the depth of the Kakheti region, in the village of Shilda, the ancestors of the Mirianashvili family built their first wine cellar. The family tradition was revived in 2001 with the initiative of Giorgi Mirianashvili, the founder and CEO of the Chelti Winery Company, who expanded on the already existing household cellars and vineyards. The total space of the territory now amounts to 80 hectares and includes vineyards, traditional Georgian (Qveri) and Classic (oak & steel) cellars, an underground wine warehouse and a tourist complex.
