Chateau Langoa-Barton is a 3rd classified Growth estate in Bordeaux, owned by the Barton family since the 1820's along with 2nd Growth Chateau Leoville-Barton. Langoa Barton has 20 hectares of vines, the majority of which are Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) with Merlot and Cabernet Franc making up the remainder. The wines from both estates are vinified and matured in the same way, with the only differences coming from the soils and vineyards themselves, giving an interesting insight into the terroir of Saint-Julien.
From the excellent 2009 vintage this is a beautifuly concentrated wine, full of blackberry, cedar and tobacco. The tannins are fine and well balanced with the rich black berry fruit and elegant acidity. Drinking well now but will continue to age in the cellar for a number of years to come.
