Get to know: Chateau Potensac Cru Bourgeois Medoc 2014
A Médoc red from Bordeaux, blending Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and a little Petit Verdot, with twelve years of bottle age.
Tasting Note
Dark berries lead, with a little strawberry and raspberry jam on top. Grilled herbs, liquorice and dark spice sit underneath, with a hint of tobacco that grows with a little air. It's medium-bodied, with fine but firm tannins and fresh acidity that keeps it lively. The finish is peppery.
Top food pairings:
- Roast rack of lamb with rosemary
- Mushroom and lentil shepherd's pie
- Sunday roast beef with all the trimmings
Kate Says
"Potensac grows on high ground in Ordonnac, on clay and gravel over limestone, with Cabernet vines that are more than 100 years old in places. Hail cut the crop in 2014, and twelve years on, it's a good moment to open a bottle. Decant it for half an hour and pour it with the Sunday roast."
