Get to know: Château Fleur de Lisse, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2020
Merlot with a splash of Cabernet Franc from Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse. An organic Bordeaux red wine with Grand Cru status.
Tasting Note
Blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry fill the glass, with a faint streak of graphite underneath. It's garnet in colour and concentrated on the palate. Fine tannins hold all that dark fruit in shape, and the finish stays long and fresh. Serve it with the main course, then hang on to the last glass for the cheese.
Top food pairings:
- Roast duck with cherries
- Aged Comté
- Chestnut and mushroom Wellington with olive oil pastry
Kate Says
"Going organic and then biodynamic on a small estate is a lot of work, and I really admire that. Open this about half an hour before dinner and let it breathe. I'd have it with roast duck, that kind of thing, with everyone round the table."
