Get to know: Ceretto, Barbaresco 2014

Tasting Note

A fantastic, traditional Barbaresco from one of the most respected producers in Piemonte. This wine is blended from fruit across several vineyards to create an overall expression of the Barbaresco terroir. The wine has a captivating aroma of dried cherries and rose petals, complemented by undertones of violets, liquorice, vanilla, and spices. On the palate, this wine is medium-bodied and rich with flavors of tart cherries, rose petals, and hints of truffles with a long, impressive finish with lively acidity and a noticable food friendly tannin grip which continue will soften over time.

Pair this wine with roasted lamb shank.

Kate Says

"I love the wines from Barbaresco, and Ceretto's is sublime. It offers a more elegant expression of Nebbiolo compared to the wines of Barolo. This has great intensity and an aroma I could spend all day exploring."

Producer Info

In the late 80s the Ceretto family found an old farmstead in the outskirts of Alba, and gradually transformed it into its main offices. This estate, known as Monsordo Bernardina became the main hub of the company. There are more than 30 hectares of vineyards that surround the farmstead, both traditional and international varieties, all grown under strong principles of environmental sustainability.

The vineyards of Piemonte are charcterised by their altitude and steep-slopes. The Ceretto family are some of the most revered wine-growers and entrepreneurs in the Langhe, who made a name for themselves creating singular wines that are highly sought-after and stand in a class of their own on the world stage.
