Cave de la Cote, Pinot Noir 2022

Get to know: Cave de la Cote, Pinot Noir 2022

Tasting Note

Elegant, light on its feet, and quietly classy – this Swiss Pinot Noir from Cave de la Côte offers up something a bit different. Expect delicate red berry fruit – think wild strawberries, raspberries and a touch of cherry – with subtle hints of spice, forest floor, and a whisper of smoke.

The palate’s soft and silky, with fine tannins and a gentle savoury note under the fruit. It’s light to medium-bodied, but full of charm – more Burgundy in style than blockbuster.

Try this with mushroom risotto or creamy wild mushroom pasta, charcuterie and pâté, seared duck breast with a cherry glaze or even slightly chilled with salmon en croûte.

Kate says

“If you’ve never tried a Swiss wine before, this is a cracking place to start. It’s proper elegant, with all the finesse you’d want from a Pinot, but with a fresh alpine edge. Think redcurrants in the woods – subtle, cool, and oh-so sippable.”

Producer Info

Cave de la Côte is a top-quality co-operative based in Vaud, near Lake Geneva. They work with over 300 growers to produce expressive, terroir-driven wines – and Pinot Noir is one of their calling cards.

The 2022 vintage was a beauty – warm days and cool nights meant healthy grapes with ripe fruit and good acidity. Fermented and aged mainly in stainless steel to preserve that fresh fruit character, this wine is all about purity and poise.

It’s a brilliant example of cool-climate Pinot Noir that’s understated, refined and easy to enjoy.
