Get to know: Casa de Vilacetinho Vinho Verde
Tasting Note
Casa de Vilacetinho Vinho Verde 2024 is light, bright, and gloriously refreshing. Packed with flavours of zesty lemon, green apple, pear and a touch of tropical fruit, it’s got that signature Vinho Verde spritz that gives it a real lift.
It’s dry, crisp, and beautifully balanced – just 10% ABV, so perfect for daytime sipping or when you fancy something fresh but not too boozy. The gentle bubbles and mouthwatering acidity keep it lively right to the end. Refreshing, aromatic, low in alcohol, and made with care by a historic producer. It’s vegan-friendly, brilliant value, and made for sunny days – or at least bringing a little sunshine to your glass.
Food pairing ideas:
-
Spot-on with grilled sardines, prawns or calamari
-
Lovely with feta salad, sushi, or Vietnamese summer rolls
-
Picnic perfection with cold roast chicken or creamy cheeses
Kate Says
"Is there a wine that reminds you of holidays more than Vinho Verde? I love visiting Portugal and I love its wines, so of course we had to have a good example that still tasted good in rainy Manchester. This is just the ticket."
Producer Info
From one of the oldest estates in the Vinho Verde region, Casa de Vilacetinho has a long and proud winemaking history. Perched above the River Douro in Alpendurada, the vineyards have been around since the late 1700s – and were officially recognised as a producer in 1950.
In fact, in 1957, their wine was poured for Queen Elizabeth II on her state visit to Portugal – so it’s got some royal pedigree as well as top-notch taste. These days, they blend traditional methods with modern kit in a state-of-the-art winery, and it shows in the clean, precise character of this wine.
The 2024 vintage is a blend of Avesso, Arinto, Azal and Loureiro, classic local grapes known for their crispness, citrus tones and subtle aromatics. Grown on granite soils with good sun exposure, they deliver a dry, delicate wine with real energy.
