Bollinger La Grande Annee 2015

Get to know: Bollinger La Grande Annee 2015

Tasting Note

Bright aromas of stone fruits like plum and Mirabelle, followed by hints of honey. Notes of red berries—blackberry, cherry, and raspberry—mix with almond and a touch of exotic mango. Subtle layers of vanilla and a light woody finish add depth. On the palate Rich and generous, with flavours of Mirabelle plum jam. The texture is full and smooth, leading to a long finish of chocolate and citrus, balanced by a refreshing hint of minerality. A truly generous wine!

A wonderful champagne to pair with seafood, try it with a langoustine ravioli.

Best served between 8-10°C

Kate Says

"A stunning wine fit for a very special celebration. The precision, intensity and complexity are all things I look for in a great champagne. That Bollinger made this in a difficult vintage is a testament to their skill as winemakers. This would be a truly special gift."

Producer Info

Independent and family owned since its foundation in 1829, Champagne Bollinger has evolved from one generation to the next while always staying true to its values and authentic character. Bollinger’s philosophy is based on the principals of timeless style, conserving the environment, and the preservation of its savoir-faire. By joining the B Corp movement in 2023, Champagne Bollinger intends to strengthen, and continue to engage in, its individual and collective actions and commitments outlined as part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programme: the People, the Land, and local Roots.

The House’s 178ha are planted with 85% Grand and Premier Cru vines and is one of very few to produce the majority of their own grapes for their blends. Pinot Noir represents 60% of the House’s vineyards, corresponding to its exact proportion in the Special Cuvée blend. Bollinger also maintains two famous plots, the Clos Saint-Jacques and Chaudes Terres, which never succumbed to phylloxera and are used to create the famous Vieilles Vignes Françaises.

La Grande Année 2015 is a blend of 11 crus, predominantly 60% of Pinot Noir from Verzenay, Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and 40% of Chardonnay from Chouilly and Avize. Fermentation takes place entirely in oak barrels and the wine is aged, sealed with a natural cork, for more than twice the time required by the appellation. Dosage is moderate, 8 grams per litre.
