Bodegas Palacio, Glorioso Blanco 2024

Get to know: Bodegas Palacio, Glorioso Blanco 2024

A vibrant and elegant Rioja white wine crafted from Viura in the heart of Rioja Alavesa.

Tasting Note

Bodegas Palacio, Glorioso Blanco is a fresh yet gently textured white that shows just how characterful a modern Rioja white wine can be. Pale yellow and bright in colour, it opens with aromas of white flowers, crisp apple, citrus zest and a subtle hint of toasted oak. On the palate, this Viura-led wine is soft and rounded with flavours of ripe stone fruit, apple and lemon, layered with a delicate pastry note reminiscent of brioche from its time on fine lees. A brief spell in French and American oak adds a touch of spice and creaminess without overpowering the fruit. It finishes with zesty acidity and impressive length, balancing freshness and elegance in true Rioja Alavesa style.

Top food pairings:

  • Grilled king prawns with garlic and parsley
  • Classic Spanish seafood paella
  • Manchego, creamy goat’s cheese or a slice of Brie
Kate Says

"The Glorioso range has added a blanco, and it's as good as you'd want it to be in my opinion. A little creamy richness with a tiny bit of oak to support a ripe, zesty stone fruit profile. Really well balanced, very drinkable. Perfect for sunny afternoons, tapas nights, or just when you fancy something delicious."

Producer Info

Bodegas Cosme Palacio has been part of the fabric of Rioja Alavesa since 1894, with the Glorioso brand first released in 1917. Based at the foot of Laguardia, one of the region’s most renowned towns, the estate blends century-old know-how with a forward-thinking approach. Serious investment in sustainability – from solar power to careful vineyard management – sits alongside a commitment to expressing the purity and character of Rioja’s vineyards.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: Predominantly Viura, the classic white grape of Rioja
  • Harvested to balance ripeness and natural acidity for freshness
  • Low-temperature maceration to preserve delicate aromas
  • Controlled fermentation in stainless steel to enhance fruit character
  • Aged for around three months in French and American oak barrels, with time on fine lees for added texture and complexity

Good to know:

  • Region: D.O.Ca Rioja, Rioja Alavesa, Spain
  • Style: White, still, lightly oaked
  • Closure: Cork
  • Vegan: No
  • ABV: 12.5%
  • Vintage: 2024

Why we love it:

This beautifully balanced Rioja white wine combines fresh citrus and orchard fruit with subtle oak and creamy lees texture. It’s a versatile Viura that works brilliantly with seafood, tapas and cheese – a modern take on classic Rioja that still honours its roots.
