A perfect combination between its traditional character and the modern methods it uses today. This Crianza de Rioja Alavesa is an elegant and broad wine with aromas of vanilla, coconut, coffee combined with notes of ripe red fruit and liquorice. Ample on the palate with soft tannins and a pleasing finish.
Try this with a burger or other grilled meats.
"Muriel are a very good a producing a consistently appealing wine that really captures the typical Rioja style. It was a standout at our Rioja Wine customer focus group too. I'd enjoy this with tender lamb cutlets."
Founded in 1926 by José Murúa Villaverde, today, the winery is managed by Julián Murúa and his son, Javier Murúa. Muriel is the brand that appeals to everyday life, to wine as a loyal friend that knows how to accompany our lives.
The grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards in Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta, planted in very poor chalky soils with a clayey-loam texture. The fermentation and maceration process is carried out for 15 days in stainless steel tanks, with daily pumping over for optimum extraction of colour and tannins. After the fermentation process, the wine is transferred to barrels where it remains for 12 months in 225-litre American oak casks. Following this the wine is bottled where it acquires complexity and roundness during another 12 months of maturation.
