Another letter in their innovative 'Alphabet of Wine' series, Ö is Alpha Box and Dice's expression of Austria's famous white grape variety, grown here in Macclesfield in South Australia's Adelaide Hills.
The 'Alphabet of Wine' series is an exploration of the possibilities that South Australia's vineyards have to offer, with each wine made from a single grape variety and a focus on experimentation with lesser-known varieties. Head Winemaker Sam Berkata sees this Gruner as the perfect marriage of region and variety that is 'hard to beat' - the versatility of the grape variety and the microclimate of this particular sub region of the Hills work together in true harmony.
The Adelaide Hills is fast becoming synonymous with top-quality Gruner. The longer, cooler ripening period here allows the wine's flavours to gently develop. Expect zippy acidity, stone fruits and a flinty minerality, with old oak fermentation giving the wine plenty of structure.
