A step up from Alceno's Sierra de Enmedio range, this is proper Jumilla Monastrell with rounded plummy fruit, cherry, blackberry, raisin, cocoa and vanilla from 3-4 months in American oak barrels. Deep flavours and soft texture. A good Malbec alternative.
Try with lamb and pecorino meatballs.
"If you like bold, fruity reds like Malbec this is for you. Monastrell is the Spanish name for Mourvedre and this grape thrives in the hot climate of Jumilla developing big ripe flavours that will really satisfy."
Established in 1870 Bodegas Alceño, are the oldest commercial winery in Jumilla. Initially run as a family operation the winery is now managed by the Familia Bastida group and uses new winemaking techniques while following the same tradition and identity of the region.
