La Levre Piquante, Picpoul de Pinet 2024

Get to know: La Levre Piquante, Picpoul de Pinet

A bright and breezy white from the sun-soaked Languedoc coast, this zippy Picpoul is bursting with citrus freshness and salty sea-breeze character.

Tasting Note

This is exactly what we look for in a good Picpoul. Bone dry, mouthwatering acidity, fresh, citrussy & impossible not to enjoy. There's a hint of elderflower and grapefruit, even an subtle hit of lychee supporting the lemony citrus core that gives it such a vivacious zing. Like the flowerbuds opening up in spring, this is a wine that wakes up your palate and leaves you wanting more.

Top food pairings:

  • Fresh oysters with shallot vinaigrette
  • Grilled prawns with lemon and garlic
  • Deep-fried whitebait or calamari
Kate Says

"This used to be the kind of wine you only found on holiday, but it's now become one of our bestsellers. It's fresh lively and vivacious and an easy choice for serving with seafood or just sipping in the garden."

Producer Info

Made by Ormarine, a sustainability-focussed cooperative with over 470 members, La Lèvre Piquante celebrates the zesty charm of Picpoul de Pinet. Their vineyards overlook the Étang de Thau – home to France’s most famous oyster beds – and benefit from cooling Mediterranean breezes that preserve freshness in the grapes. Ormarine has played a key role in putting Picpoul firmly on the map, balancing tradition with innovation to produce wines of clarity and character.

How it’s made:

  • Piquepoul Blanc grapes grown on coastal hillsides above the Bassin de Thau
  • Hand-harvested in mid-September for peak acidity
  • Fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel to preserve aromatics
  • Bottled early to retain freshness and vibrancy

Good to know:

  • Region: Picpoul de Pinet AOP, Languedoc, France
  • Grapes: 100% Piquepoul Blanc
  • Vintage: 2024
  • ABV: 12%
  • Style: Crisp, citrusy white with saline freshness
  • Organic: Sustainable practices in place (not certified organic)

Why we love it:

It’s everything a Picpoul should be: tangy, beachy, and brilliantly drinkable. Whether you're pairing with seafood or sipping in the sunshine, it’s the ultimate southern French refresher.
