"It’s bright, fresh - peachy, lemony, zesty and a really lovely long finish with crushed stones. What a banger of a wine. It has the tension of the warmth of the south of France but the cooling influence of the terrain and the altitude. Cracking stuff."

Clos del Rey is a family-owned estate in the Côtes Catalanes region of southern France, nestled in the foothills of the Pyrénées Mountains. Founded in 2001 by the Montagne family, the vineyards sit at 300 metres above sea level, with clay-limestone soils enriched with iron. Surrounded by aromatic garrigue scrubland, the estate combines traditional viticulture with modern techniques to produce wines that reflect the unique Catalan terroir.

How it’s made:

  • Manual harvesting, followed by direct pressing using a pneumatic press
  • Cold settling before fermentation at a controlled temperature
  • Ageing on fine lees during the winter in concrete vats until March
  • Bottled in April, preserving freshness and aromatic purity
  • 50% Grenache Blanc, 50% Grenache Gris from low-yielding vines
