The grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards in Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta, planted in very poor chalky soils with a clayey-loam texture. The fermentation and maceration process is carried out for 15 days in stainless steel tanks, with daily pumping over for optimum extraction of colour and tannins. After the fermentation process, the wine is transferred to barrels where it remains for 12 months in 225-litre American oak casks. Following this the wine is bottled where it acquires complexity and roundness during another 12 months of maturation.
