Quinta da Raza, Dom Diogo Arinto 2025

Get to know: Quinta da Raza Dom Diogo Arinto 2025

Single-grape Arinto from Basto in Vinho Verde, a dry, crisp Portuguese white wine.

Tasting Note

This pours with an inviting bright colour in the glass, with tropical fruit and stone fruit on the nose. It's dry and crisp, and the acidity keeps it fresh and lively from the first sip. The flavour lingers, so it stays with you well after you've swallowed. Pour it at 8–10°C and it's ready for whatever's coming out of the kitchen.

Top food pairings:

  • Grilled sardines with a squeeze of lemon
  • Garlic prawns with crusty bread
  • Chickpea and spinach curry with a bit of heat
Kate Says

"I'd pour this for anyone who says they don't really know wine, because this is simply delicious. It's Arinto from Basto in Vinho Verde, dry and fresh, with tropical fruit that's easy to spot. Get it nicely chilled, around 8 to 10 degrees, and have it with prawns or sardines. See what you think."

Producer Info

Quinta da Raza makes this Arinto in Basto, one of the sub-regions of Vinho Verde. It's been in the Teixeira Coelho family for eight generations, and Diogo Teixeira Coelho runs it now. Their ownership of the Raza site is documented from 1769, and the estate descends from the family manor house, Casa do Outeiro. On sustainability, Quinta da Raza says it was the first estate in Vinho Verde to be certified to ViniPortugal's National Sustainability Standard for the Wine Sector. Every vineyard is certified under Integrated Production. Solar panels have been going in at the winery and vineyard since 2021.

How it's made:

  • Grapes are destemmed, then pressed at low pressure
  • Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks
  • Harvest timing and maturation: Not supplied

Good to know:

  • Grape: Arinto (100%)

Why we love it:

Dry and crisp, this Portuguese white wine goes with seafood, pasta and a bit of spice, so it's easy to keep a bottle chilled and ready. The 2025 vintage has picked up Silver (90 points) at the International Wine & Spirit Competition, Silver at Mundus Vini and a Best Buy from Wine Enthusiast.
