Big, bold, and velvety smooth – this Italian red wine from Salento hits all the right notes. Made in the traditional appassimento style, the Beatrice Rosso Salento 2023 is rich and warming, packed with flavours of dried cherries, plums, sweet spice, tobacco leaf and a touch of dark chocolate.
There’s a touch of sweetness, but it’s beautifully balanced by freshness and fine tannins. This is a proper full-bodied red for when you want something with depth and character. If you love the popular wines Baglio Gibelina, U... Passimiento or Biscardo Neropasso, this is a must-try!
Food Pairing Tips
"This is one of those reds that feels like a hug in a glass. It’s lush, indulgent, and brilliant value – exactly what you want for a dinner party or when you’re opening something a bit special midweek. The hint of sweetness and soft tannins make it incredibly drinkable. A solid crowd-pleaser, especially if you're serving hearty food or a cheeseboard."
Cantine Pirovano is a fourth-generation, family-run winery that’s been making wine since 1910. Based in northern Italy, they’ve got a modern edge but stay true to Italian tradition – sourcing grapes from the best regions for each style. For this bottle, they head south to Apulia (Puglia) – the heel of Italy’s boot – where the sun-ripened grapes are bursting with flavour.
This Appassimento wine is made by partially drying the grapes before fermentation. It’s a centuries-old technique that concentrates the sugars, flavours, and aromas. The result? A red wine that’s soft, rich, and full of character, with smooth tannins and long, luxurious fruit on the finish.
Made from a blend of Malvasia Nera, Montepulciano, and Negroamaro, it’s a fine example of the region’s bold, ripe style – and proof that Italy can do powerhouse reds without losing elegance.
Cantine Pirovano is serious about sustainability – investing in eco-friendly production and energy-efficient practices. The winery uses state-of-the-art equipment to ensure consistency and quality.
