Get to know: Miopasso Primitivo
Tasting Note
This Miopasso Primitivo is full of bold, ripe flavours – think blackberries, dark plums and cherries, wrapped in warming hints of vanilla, chocolate, herbs and gentle spice. It’s got a lovely smooth, velvety texture with soft tannins and just enough freshness to keep it balanced.
Food Pairings:
-
Spot-on with beef lasagne, venison ragu or slow-cooked lamb shank
-
Vegan? Try it with a rich mushroom and lentil stew or aubergine parmigiana
-
Cracking with cheeses like Mature Cheddar, Fontina, or smoked Scamorza
Kate Says
"Miopasso is a great value range of wines from Southern Italy. This Primtivo from Puglia has all the warmth of the sun in its ripe, dark berry flavours. I love this with pasta in a meaty ragu."
Producer Info
Made by The Wine People, under their Miopasso label, this wine brings together local tradition and modern winemaking. The grapes are grown on selected plots around Leverano in the heart of Puglia’s Salento Peninsula, where sunshine and sea breezes work their magic on the vines.
Winemaker Stefano Chioccioli takes great care from vineyard to bottle:
-
Hand-harvested Primitivo grapes, gently destemmed to keep skins intact
-
Cool fermentation (22–24°C) with regular pump-overs for deep colour and soft tannins
-
Aged for 5 months on fine lees, adding roundness and a richer mouthfeel
The result? A robust yet silky red wine, bursting with flavour and smooth on the finish.
