Domaine Gayda, Flying Solo Rose 2024

Get to know: Domaine Gayda, Flying Solo Rose

Tasting Note

This organic rosé wine from the south of France is a real crowd-pleaser. Domaine Gayda’s Flying Solo Rosé is light, dry and effortlessly elegant - exactly what you want from a French rosé wine. Made from Grenache and Cinsault grapes, it’s full of crisp wild strawberry, raspberry and cherry fruit, zesty citrus, a touch of elderflower and a delicate mineral finish thanks to the limestone-rich soils of the Languedoc. A refreshing, food-friendly rosé that’s perfect served chilled.

Try this with grilled asparagus and quinoa salad, a coconut and lime fish curry or soft goat’s cheese.

Kate Says

"This is the rosé I reach for when I want something fresh, easy and not too serious - but still properly made. It’s got that southern French sunshine vibe in every sip. A reliable and delicious wine for a picnic, garden drinks or a Friday night."

Producer Info

Domaine Gayda, nestled in Brugairolles near Carcassonne, is distinguished by a rich history and a philosophy focused on integrity and quality. Founded in 1749 as a coaching inn the farm buildings were gradually transformed into luxury accommodation, marking the beginning of a remarkable transformation. In 2004, under the enlightened leadership of owners Tim Ford and Anthony Record, in partnership with talented winemaker Vincent Chansault, the estate took a new turn by modernising significantly.

Blend: 50% Grenache, 50% Cinsault

The vineyard sits on limestone terraces with clay soils, providing a unique foundation for the wine's character. The winemaking process begins with gentle pneumatic pressing, followed by cold fermentation to preserve fresh flavors. The wine is then aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks, enhancing its texture and complexity. After blending, it undergoes sterile filtration to ensure purity before bottling.
