Domaine Philippe Livera, Cote de Nuits Villages 2022

Get to know: Domaine Philippe Livera, Côte de Nuits Villages 2022

An elegant and expressive Burgundy Pinot Noir from the prestigious Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, France.

Tasting Note

Domaine Philippe Livera Côte de Nuits Villages 2022 is a beautifully poised red Burgundy that balances generous fruit with classic earthy complexity. Deep ruby red in colour, it opens with aromas of fresh raspberry, black cherry, wild strawberry, violet, and a subtle hint of liquorice and spice. On the palate, this Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir feels silky yet structured, with juicy red berry fruit, a touch of plum, savoury meatiness, and fine mineral detail running through the wine. There’s intensity here, but it never feels heavy – the fresh acidity and refined tannins keep everything lifted and precise. The finish is long, gently spicy, and savoury, making this a brilliant food wine with a few years of development ahead of it.

Top food pairings:

  • Roast duck with cherry sauce
  • Beef bourguignon or mushroom dishes
  • Soft washed-rind cheeses like Époisses
Kate Says

"This is one of those Burgundies that quietly pulls you in. It’s refined and silky, but there’s also this lovely savoury depth underneath the fruit that makes every glass more interesting than the last."

Producer Info

Domaine Philippe Livera is a family-run estate in Gevrey-Chambertin with roots dating back to 1920. Today, Damien Livera oversees the 8.5-hectare domaine, continuing a major quality-focused transformation that began when he took over in 2007. Old vines planted in the 1950s and 60s are farmed using sustainable vineyard practices with low yields, manual soil work, and no herbicides. The domaine’s vineyards around Brochon, on clay-limestone and mineral-rich soils, produce wines with both concentration and finesse – a hallmark of classic Burgundy Pinot Noir

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
  • Produced from old vines planted in the 1950s and 60s in Brochon
  • Strict grape selection followed by almost complete destemming
  • Cold maceration for around one week before a long, slow fermentation
  • Aged in oak barrels for 11–18 months and bottled without fining or filtration

Good to know:

  • Region: Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France
  • Style: Red, still, medium-bodied
  • Closure: Cork
  • ABV: 13%
  • Vintage: 2022

Why we love it:

This Burgundy Pinot Noir delivers that classic Côte de Nuits balance of vibrant red fruit, earthy savoury depth, and silky texture that makes great Burgundy so compelling. Refined enough for special occasions but approachable enough to enjoy now with food, it’s a brilliant introduction to a rising domaine with serious pedigree.
