Tasting Note

Domaine Remoriquet Hautes Côtes de Nuits Rouge 2023 is an approachable and elegant Pinot Noir that showcases the purity and freshness of this renowned Burgundy region. Medium ruby in colour, it reveals aromas of raspberry, cherry, and red currant, with subtle hints of violet and gentle spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with lively acidity and vibrant red fruit, finishing clean and refined with a delicate, lingering spice and grippy tannins. A perfect example of Hautes-Côtes de Nuits style, balancing freshness and finesse with classic Pinot Noir charm. Open gently an hour at least prior to serving.

Top food pairings:

  • Roast Lamb or duck
  • Stews or mushroom dishes
  • Medium strong cheeses.
Kate Says

"This Hautes-Côtes de Nuits is vibrant, precise and full of life – a true reflection of the Remoriquet family’s dedication to Pinot Noir. The 2023 vintage is still relatively young and will need a little time before it "awakens" and rewards you. One to tuck in the cellar until next year."

Producer Info

Domaine Henri & Gilles Remoriquet is a family estate with four generations of winemaking heritage in Burgundy. The legacy began with Louis Remoriquet (1865–1920) in Nuits-Saint-Georges, followed by his wife Hélène Lacour, the first female winemaker inducted into the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin in 1948. Today, the estate spans 9.5 ha across Nuits-Saint-Georges, Hautes-Côtes de Nuits (Chaux), and Vosne-Romanée. Gilles Remoriquet, Louis’ great-grandson, led the domaine from 1979 until his passing in 2025, working closely with his cousin Patricia Guenot. Their four-handed approach in both vineyard and winery ensured wines of purity, precision, and respect for the terroir. The Estate is HVE (High Environmental Value) and Terra Vitis certified.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
  • Hand-harvested from plots in Chaux above Nuits-Saint-Georges, average vine age 45 years
  • Rigorous sorting with total or partial destemming depending on vintage
  • Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 3–4 days, medium-long vatting (15–20 days) for gentle extraction
  • Ageing 12–14 months: one third in vats, two thirds in oak barrels (approx. 10% new), light filtration.

Good to know:

  • Region: Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Burgundy, France
  • Style: Red, still, light- to medium-bodied
  • Vintage: 2023

Why we love it:

This Burgundy red wine honours four generations of Remoriquet winemaking, delivering pure Pinot Noir fruit with bright red berry flavours, subtle spice, and a grippy, refined finish. It’s a fresh, well crafted Hautes-Côtes de Nuits perfect for pairing with lamb, stews or a cheese board, and a fitting tribute to Gilles Remoriquet’s legacy.
