A very precise, fine and complex wine from a challenging vintage that has created minerality and exceptional intensity that make this wine stand out. The nose displays fruity notes with a hint of sea-air. Aromas of cherry and lemon intertwine with quince and bergamot, followed by notes of hazelnut and almond, peach and mirabelle plum. On the palate, the initial sensation is a delicate effervescence balanced with delicate acidity. Its very fine texture and saline finish bring excellent length to the palate, accompanied by delicate minerality and complex flavours of orchard fruit and citrus. The wine unfurls gradually, revealing its full potential and wonderful intensity.
A wonderful champagne to pair with seafood, try it with a langoustine ravioli.

The House’s 178ha are planted with 85% Grand and Premier Cru vines and is one of very few to produce the majority of their own grapes for their blends. Pinot Noir represents 60% of the House’s vineyards, corresponding to its exact proportion in the Special Cuvée blend. Bollinger also maintains two famous plots, the Clos Saint-Jacques and Chaudes Terres, which never succumbed to phylloxera and are used to create the famous Vieilles Vignes Françaises.
La Grande Année 2014 is an assembly of 19 crus, mostly in Aÿ and Verzenay for the 61% Pinot Noir and Chouilly and Oiry for the 39% Chardonnay. Fermentation takes place entirely in oak barrels and the wine is aged, sealed with a natural cork, for more than twice the time required by the appellation. Dosage is moderate, 8 grams per litre.
