Cantine Sampietrana, Carlone Primitivo di Manduria, 14.5% Italy
Primitivo is the Italian name for Zinfandel. This one is a treat if you like a big red wine. There’s lots going on here. Dark, brooding, savoury, plummy, fig and vanilla spice. Rich and full bodied. Great with roast red meat.
Bodegas Palacio, Glorioso Reserva, 14% Spain
Vibrant nose of red berry fruit combined perfectly with the fine toasty vanilla aromas added by ageing in French oak to make an elegant wine with its own personality. A very expressive wine where the ripeness of the fruit brings freshness and liveliness to the palate and leads to a long, silky finish with a velvety mouthfeel.
