An aromatic wild Chilean white made using a blend of Moscatel, Corinto and Semillon grapes. The nose is floral notes, pear, melon and apricot fruit. It leads to a richly layered palate that carries these flavours with refreshing acidity and adds a little spiciness. On the finish there is a very gentle hint of tannins and smoke making it remarkably easy drinking.
Enjoy this with salty fish like smoked salmon or sardines.
"An ideal wine for a picnic or a party for fans of Natural wine. This little gem from Chile has a bright honey blossom and citrus character with a little peach and apricot and a spicy mineral finish that even has a hint of smoke. I'd enjoy this with sardines drizzled in lemon."
A Los Vinateros Bravos is in independent winery located in the Old Itata Hills in central Chile. The combination of old vines, milder temperatures and an authentic way and pace of life has attracted many of Chile’s top winemakers to venture into Itata to make a host of interesting wines. With a patchwork of coastal hills and river valleys, and a mix of very old and very new vineyards, there is quite a lot of diversity to Itata as a wine region. Volcanic sand and granite soils feature old bush vines and fresh sea breezes from the Pacific Ocean on the Itata River slows the ripening of the grapes.
Fruit is manually harvested and grapes are destemmed and co-fermented for six months on skins in tank. Native yeasts are used and the wine is matured in cement tanks where natural malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine is bottled unfined but gently filtered with a small amount of sulphur added.
