Get to know: Domaine Francois Raquillet, Bourgogne Rouge
Tasting Note
This lovely Bourgogne Pinot Noir comes from 30-year-old vines in the Mercurey region. It showcases vibrant red berry flavors on the nose - strawberry, cherry, and raspberry—along with a touch of licorice and an earthy note that comes through on the finish. The wine spends 10 months aging in 25% new oak, giving it a delicious, juicy, and inviting character. It’s a wine that’s full of charm and perfect for any occasion.
Try this with seared duck breast and confit potatoes or a mushroom risotto.
Kate Says
Bourgogne Rouge wines are light, fruity, and full of charm when done well, and Domaine Racquillet's 2022 is exactly that. With its bright red berry flavours and earthy finish, it’s perfect for a cosy dinner of roast chicken or mushroom risotto. Ideal for intimate gatherings and a great red wine gift.
Producer Info
François, the 11th generation of grape growers in Mercurey, has 14 hectares of superbly sited, mostly old, vines. He believes in low yields, mature (rather than super-ripe) fruit and a severe selection at the table de tri. The depth, richness and concentration which characterise his wines are a result of this, rather than any over extraction. Francois has always worked alongside his wife Emmanuelle and they have now been joined by their daughter Jeanne.
