Dom. Sorine, Maranges Vielles Vignes 2020

Get to know: Dom. Sorine, Maranges Vielles Vignes

Tasting Note

This is a very enjoyable bright, light and airy Pinot Noir with some pure raspberry and black cherry fruit backed by a slightly earthy character that brings depth. the star here is the fruit though, it is simply satisfying and delicate in all the right ways.

Try this with roast chicken and mixed mushrooms.

Producer Info

The red wines, made from the Pinot Noir grapes are grown on vines over 50 years old. They are aged for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels (20 to 30% new wood). The result is elegant, fruity wines with a lot of complexity that, are built for ageing.

The Sorine are one of the oldest families in the village of Santenay. After abandoning the vineyard following the phylloxera crisis, Charles Sorine took over the vines in 1925. In 1987, Christian joined his father on the farm. Emma joined him in 2009. Together, they  have restored a magnificent building in Cheilly-lès-Maranges including a cellar for sale and tasting and cellars of the 15th and 18th century allowing the aging in barrels of all their cuvées. They manage their vineyards according to biodymanic principles and gently filter the wines on site with very little added sulpur.
