This isn’t your average Sauvignon. The False Bay Windswept Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is all about coastal character – think gooseberry, lime zest, and freshly cut herbs, with a saline tang that really lifts it. There’s ripe citrus and green melon on the palate, with a dry, refreshing finish and just enough texture to keep it interesting.
It’s punchy and zippy, but not overly sharp – more balanced and gently expressive, thanks to careful wild yeast fermentation and a hands-off approach in the winery.

False Bay Vineyards, part of the Waterkloof family, is all about natural, affordable wines that punch well above their price tag. This wine is made by cellarmaster Nadia Langenegger, who champions sustainable farming and a minimal-intervention philosophy.
For this 2024 vintage, the Windswept Sauvignon Blanc is made from grapes grown in South Africa’s Coastal Region, where the vines are constantly buffeted by sea breezes – hence the name. That cooling influence slows ripening, giving grapes more time to develop flavour while retaining zingy acidity.
The wine is wild-fermented – no lab yeast here – which means a slower, more complex fermentation that brings a lovely soft texture and depth. Only the best free-run juice is used, and there’s no oak – just pure, clean Sauvignon character with a coastal twist.
