Get to know: Staphyle Iris Malbec 2024
A bright, expressive take on Argentina’s flagship grape.
Tasting Note
This Malbec from Bodega Staphyle brings vibrant fruit, gentle spice and a touch of floral lift. Named after the Greek word for “grape cluster”, *Iris* captures everything that makes Mendoza Malbec so crowd-pleasing — with a fresher, more easygoing twist. Plump and juicy with aromas of ripe plum, violets and fresh raspberry. The palate is smooth and fruit-forward, with soft tannins and a flicker of peppery spice on the finish. Lively, approachable and full of sunshine.
Top food pairings:
- Chargrilled steak or burgers with chimichurri
- Spicy black bean tacos with roasted peppers
- Grilled halloumi with aubergine and tomato relish
Kate Says
"This is a brilliant ‘weeknight’ Malbec – all the bold fruit and generous warmth you expect, but with a softer edge and a bit of floral charm. Staphyle consistently delivers quality at great value, and this bottle is no exception."
