Domaine Sorine, Santenay Vielles Vignes 2019

Notify me when this product is available:

The red wines by Domain Sorine, made from the Pinot Noir grapes are grown on vines over 50 years old. They are aged for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels (20 to 30% new wood). The result is elegant, fruity wines with a lot of complexity that, are built for ageing.

A typical Santenay red wine is more deeply colored than those from further north, but still retains the dark cherry color so characteristic of red Burgundy. The aromas are of licorice, red berries and violets, with the most-perfumed examples also showing notes of rose petals.

The Sorine are one of the oldest families in the village of Santenay. After abandoning the vineyard following the phylloxera crisis, Charles Sorine took over the vines in 1925. In 1987, Christian joined his father on the farm. Emma joined him in 2009. Together, they  have restored a magnificent building in Cheilly-lès-Maranges including a cellar for sale and tasting and cellars of the 15th and 18th century allowing the aging in barrels of all their cuvées. They manage their vineyards according to biodymanic principles and gently filter the wines on site with very little added sulpur.
