Vinha do Medronheiro is a wonderful little parcel of vines planted high up on granitic soils close to the Lavradores’ new winery. It is also the first vineyard Lavradores de Feitoria have planted together and grafted with only 2 varieties - Viosinho and Gouveio. It is managed organically, and the wine made skilfully to preserve the purity of the aromatics that characterise the grapes on this terroir.
This debut release is bright and crisp, very mineral, with lovely citrus, plums, watermelon and white floral notes. Lovely weight and ripeness through the palate is balanced by fresh acidity. Great concentration through the finish is kept clean, and keeps on going. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel.
This would be ideal with a Portugeuse fish stew (Caldeirada) and also as a refereshing aperitif.
