Enosophia, DIKA Frankovka 2022

Get to know: Enosophia ‘DIKA’ Frankovka

A juicy, vibrant Croatian red wine from the rolling slopes of Slavonia in Eastern Croatia.

Tasting Note

Enosophia ‘DIKA’ Frankovka is an easy-drinking, medium-bodied style with loads of bright berry fruit and a gentle savoury lift. Ruby red in colour, it opens with aromas of ripe plums, cherries, cranberries, and blackberry – classic notes for the Frankovka (Blaufränkisch) grape. On the palate, it’s smooth and supple with juicy red and black fruit flavours, fresh acidity, and soft, well-integrated tannins. Hints of herbs and subtle spice add depth, leading to a clean, moreish finish. A beautifully balanced Slavonian red with real charm and versatility.

Top food pairings:

  • Croatian grilled pork cutlets with herbs
  • Roast chicken with root vegetables
  • Mushroom risotto or paprika-spiced dishes
Kate Says

"Frankovka always feels like a cosy jumper in wine form – soft, fruity, and so easy to enjoy. Perfect for relaxed evenings and midweek suppers."

Producer Info

Enosophia is a revitalised, forward-thinking winery in Slavonia, run by winemaker Martin Kovačević and vineyard manager Lucija Kovačević. Formerly known as Feravino, the estate was renamed in 2025 to reflect their philosophy of thoughtful, knowledge-driven winemaking. With 160 hectares of vines on the slopes of the Krndija mountain, the team combines a long regional heritage – including cellars dating back to 1804 – with modern techniques to craft expressive, fruit-forward wines. The region’s continental climate, cool forest-influenced slopes, and clay-rich soils give naturally aromatic fruit with bright acidity.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Frankovka (Blaufränkisch)
  • Hand-harvested in a warm, dry 2022 vintage for optimum ripeness
  • Destemmed, crushed, and macerated for 12 days for colour and flavour
  • Fermented in stainless steel at 22–26°C using selected yeasts
  • Aged 18 months in large used Slavonian oak barrels, followed by 6 months in stainless steel and 3 months in bottle

Good to know:

  • Region: Slavonia, Eastern Croatia
  • Style: Red, still, medium-bodied
  • Closure: Screwcap
  • Vegan: Yes
  • ABV: 13.5%
  • Vintage: 2022

Why we love it:

This expressive Slavonian red wine delivers the perfect balance of juicy fruit, gentle spice, and silky texture. It’s a brilliantly versatile bottle – equally at home with hearty midweek meals as it is poured on its own, slightly chilled, for easy drinking.
