This is a 2014 single vineyard Riesling from Rheinessen our buyer Nic tasted recently at a supplier’s tasting. O.M.G. it’s absolutely sumptuous, the concentration of the and complexity of flavours is insane. So complex with a touch of development but not that much so imagine what it could do with another 10 years. This is seriously good stuff that manages to justify the asking price.
Jochen Dreissigacker is leading the Rheinessen Revival. He has 45 hectares of vineyards in the Rheinhessen, 55% of which are Riesling. All of his wines are certified organic and he describes his transformation to organic viticulture as “the artisan path to purity”. From 2019, Jochen also started following biodynamic principles. He’s going for reduced yields/increased concentration and it works.
