Tasting Note

A delicious red from Chateauneuf-du-Pape that delivers the quality you expect form this famous wine region. The aroma has blackcurrants, blackberries, oak, tobacco and violets which carry on to the palate. There's a good balance to the weight and texture which is full but not brawny. There's enough acidity, to give structure and noticable, but not chewy tannins on the flavoursome dry finish.

This would be terrific with a some roast lamb.

Producer Info

Owned by the Mestre family, Domaine de la Côte de l'Ange has been run since 1988 by Corinne Mestre and her husband Yannick Gasparri, who were joined in 2017 by their son Jules. The vineyards are situated in plots around Châteauneuf du Pape with a small parcel of Côte du Rhône.

After vinification, 50% of the harvest is aged in large oak barrels for 12 months.

70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre

The Domaine is managed with great respect to the environment. Pheromone traps are placed to confuse male butterflies and prevent them mating while the rows are ploughed rather than use herbicides. The aim here is to get the healthiest possible grapes into the winery while looking after the land.
