Get to know: Balla Geza, Fekete Leanyka 2021
Tasting Note
Feteasca Neagra, the grape, translates roughly to the “Black Maiden”, named after its deep intensity colour. Indigenous to Romania, the grapes are picked from the famous Minis vineyard in Transylvania, nestled in the foothills of Arad where the grapes enjoy long sunshine hours on granite rich soils. The wine is ruby with blueberry, black cherry and warm spice notes. It has a silky-smooth texture, thanks to maturation in barrel, and a tang on the finish. If you like a Shiraz or a Chianti you'll find a lot to enjoy here.
Try this with braised lamb, tomato pasta dishes, potato and meat goulash, or grilled spicy sausages.
