A bold, generous red from the warm heart of Alentejo. Packed with ripe fruit, spice and polish – a proper comfort wine with real pedigree.
This is a bold and beautifully expressive red that doesn’t hold back. The nose is deep and layered, with blackberries, blueberries, menthol and sweet tobacco all working in harmony. On the palate it’s smooth, rich and warming, with ripe dark fruit, spice and a good grip of tannin giving it real presence.
The finish is long and savoury, with everything in perfect balance. One to savour slowly, preferably with something hearty on the table.
Top food pairings:
“This is a big, brooding red with proper depth and polish. It’s the kind of wine you open when you want to impress – structured, bold, but beautifully composed. The layers of dark fruit, spice and those savoury tobacco notes make it feel luxurious and grown-up. One to enjoy slowly, ideally with good food and even better company.”
Herdade de São Miguel is part of Casa Relvas – a family-run winery in Alentejo with a strong focus on sustainability and regional character. The vineyards are located near Redondo, with schist and clay soils, and benefit from the area’s warm days and cool nights – ideal for ripening fruit while preserving freshness.
The Reserva Tinto is their flagship red, made from a blend of local and international varieties – typically Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Trincadeira - among others. All from hand-picked, low-yielding vines. It’s made with serious care and attention: small-batch fermented in open vats (lagares,) aged in a combination of small and large oak barrels, and bottled with minimal intervention.
It’s everything you want from a big Portuguese red – ripe fruit, spice, structure and soul. A bottle that punches well above its price tag and proves why Alentejo reds are gaining so many fans.
