Radford Dale, Gravity 2014

Get to know: Radford Dale Gravity 2014

Tasting Note

Rich, layered, and seriously smooth, the Radford Dale Gravity 2014 is a masterclass in balance. Deep plummy richness meets notes of dried figs and dark chocolate, with a peppery kick from its Shiraz backbone. The Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and depth, while the Merlot rounds things out with a velvety softness.

Try this with a classic roast lamb, a hearty mushroom wellington, or a strong, mature cheddar.

Kate Says

"I met with and tasted a number of wines with Radford Dale last year and I was really impressed. They keep pushing the envelope of the environmental agenda as well as making fantastic wines. This is a proper wine-lover’s red – big on flavour but incredibly refined. You get all the richness and depth, but it never feels overpowering. Perfect for a slow Sunday roast or a quiet evening with a great book and a cheeseboard."

Producer Info

Radford Dale is the brainchild of Australian Ben Radford and Brit Alex Dale, who set up shop in South Africa’s stunning Stellenbosch region back in 1998. Their focus? Crafting wines that are both expressive and sustainable.

Gravity 2014 is a blend of Shiraz (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon (31%), and Merlot (29%), made with a hands-off, natural approach. The grapes are hand-picked, fermented with wild yeasts, and undergo gentle, gravity-fed pressing – hence the name. Aged in 600L French oak barrels, this method ensures the tannins are beautifully integrated, making for a wine that’s as smooth as it is complex. Radford Dale champions eco-conscious winemaking, so you can sip knowing it’s made with respect for the land and the people behind it.
