Get to know: Quinta das Maias, Branco
Tasting Note
A wonderfully vibrant Malvasia Fina dominated blend that's bursting with fresh, floral, lemon and lime citrus fruit. Super refreshing, elegant, easy drinking white with some serious structure and a crisp dry finish. This would suit any occasion be it midweek, with food or when entertaining.
Great with tiger prawns cooked with cherry tomatoes and chilli.
Producer Info
In the foothills of the Serra de Estrela (Star Mountain), Quinta das Maias was first established in 1893. It is now a registered organic estate, capturing the freshness and focus that this vineyard offers. The name of the estate derives from the Portuguese word for the month of May, which is when the Weaver's Broom (known as Giesta, but here as Maias) flowers here.
Grapes were crushed with partial destemming, followed by a soft pressing in an automatic press. The must was clarified by the action of gravity and decantation. The wine was fermented at a temperature of 16-18ºC. After fermentation, the wine was clarified and stored in stainless steel vats to preserve
its fine bouquet.
