Get to know: PITA Finca la Cantera
Tasting Note
The best of what PITA produces, this is a selection of the best parcels from their vineyards. Aged in a mix of new and used barriques and foudres. It's Rich and creamy when young with bags of concentration while also bright and juicy with citrus, ripe peach and brioche. This is all balanced with mouth watering acidity and a long finish. This wine ages beautifully as well. It becomes more mineral, more citric, and more complete with about 5 years in the cellar.
Try this with a herby roast chicken.
Kate Says
"Rueda is known for light dry whites, however the region's winemakers also produce some superb barrel-aged wines that show off the Verdejo grape's complexity and ability to age. Emilio Pita's La Canterra is as good as it gets, very much worth it. Treat yourself with this paired with chicken in almond sauce."
