Miopasso Primitivo 2024

Get to know: Miopasso Primitivo

A rich and velvety Italian red wine from the sun-drenched vineyards of Puglia in Southern Italy.

Tasting Note

Miopasso Primitivo is a smooth, medium-bodied red packed with bold ripe fruit and warming spice. Deep ruby red in colour with inviting aromas of blackberries, dark plums, black cherry, vanilla, and a touch of chocolate and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, this Puglia Primitivo is juicy and generous, with layers of dark berry fruit, soft spice, and silky tannins balanced by just enough freshness to keep everything lifted and easy-drinking. It finishes long, smooth, and velvety, making it a brilliant choice for fans of rich, approachable Italian reds.

Top food pairings:

  • Beef lasagne or slow-cooked venison ragu
  • Aubergine parmigiana or mushroom and lentil stew
  • Mature Cheddar, Fontina, or smoked Scamorza cheese
Kate Says

"Miopasso is a great value range of wines from Southern Italy. This Primitivo from Puglia has all the warmth of the sun in its ripe, dark berry flavours. I love this with pasta in a meaty ragu."

Producer Info

Miopasso is produced by The Wine People, a forward-thinking team focused on showcasing the character and warmth of Southern Italian wine regions. The grapes for this Primitivo are grown around Leverano in the heart of Puglia’s Salento Peninsula, where hot Mediterranean sunshine and cooling sea breezes help create beautifully ripe fruit while retaining freshness and balance. Winemaker Stefano Chioccioli combines traditional vineyard practices with modern winemaking techniques to craft expressive, fruit-forward wines with real regional character.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Primitivo
  • Hand-harvested at optimum ripeness for concentration and depth of flavour
  • Gently destemmed to preserve the quality of the grape skins
  • Cool fermentation at 22–24°C with regular pump-overs for colour extraction and soft tannins
  • Aged for 5 months on fine lees to add texture, roundness, and complexity

Good to know:

  • Region: Puglia, Italy
  • Style: Red, still, medium-bodied
  • Closure: Screwcap
  • Vegan: Yes
  • ABV: 14%
  • Vintage: NV

Why we love it:

This generous Puglia Primitivo delivers everything you want from a comforting Italian red wine — ripe dark fruit, smooth texture, and warming spice. It’s the sort of bottle that works just as well with a rich pasta dish as it does shared with friends on a cosy evening.
