This high-altitude gem bursts with fresh raspberry and cherry flavours, layered with warm spices, incense, and a hint of earthiness. The tannins are velvety yet structured, delivering a beautifully balanced wine with marked mineral characteristics provided by the Llicorella slate, with dark, deep and fruity notes and a touch of Mediterranean salinity from its breezy vineyard origins. Elegant and refined, this is a Priorat with both power and finesse.
Try this with lamb stew, boeuf bourguignon, or even a simple anchovy toast.
“Marco Abella's Priorat is always special and the Mas Mallola is particular favourite. The velvety tannins and powerful, vibrant fruit make it a joy to sip with food. Pair it with a hearty lamb stew, and you’re in for a treat.”
Nestled in the picturesque village of Porrera, Marco Abella has been crafting wines since the 15th century. The Mas Mallola comes from their highest vineyard at 750 metres, where biodynamic practices ensure harmony between the vines and nature. Using a blend of Cariñena and Garnacha, with a touch of Merlot, this wine is fermented in a mix of concrete and wood before being aged in oak barrels for added complexity. The result? A true reflection of Priorat’s unique terroir and history.
