Dom. Les Pallieres, Gigondas Terrasses du Diable 2023

Get to know: Domaine Les Pallières Gigondas Terrasses du Diable 2023

A powerful and beautifully structured Grenache blend red wine from the dramatic high-altitude terraces of Gigondas

Tasting Note

Domaine Les Pallières Terrasses du Diable 2023 is a bold yet finely chiselled southern Rhône red that shows the unmistakable stamp of its high, stony terroir. Deep ruby in colour, it opens with lifted aromas of black cherry, wild thyme, crushed limestone and a hint of Mourvèdre spice. The palate is concentrated but wonderfully energetic, packed with ripe Grenache fruit, dark berries and a savoury mineral edge that speaks clearly of its steep, rocky slopes. Firm, refined tannins carry through to a long, cool, stony finish. A serious, ageworthy expression of Gigondas with a real sense of place.

Top food pairings:

  • Slow-cooked lamb shoulder with rosemary and garlic
  • Wild mushroom and lentil stew
  • Chargrilled ribeye with herb butter
Kate Says

"This is Gigondas with altitude - all the warmth you expect from the southern Rhône, but with a brilliant freshness that keeps everything beautifully poised. It’s a proper fireside red."

Producer Info

Domaine Les Pallières is one of the great historic names of Gigondas, its steep, terraced vineyards nestled beneath the limestone peaks of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Now run by the Brunier family of Vieux Télégraphe fame, the domaine crafts wines that combine depth and southern warmth with remarkable mineral tension. The high-altitude terraces, scattered across woodland and scree, give a distinctive freshness and nerve — making this one of the most compelling estates in the southern Rhône.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 90% Grenache Noir, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Clairette
  • Hand-harvested with rigorous triple sorting for precision
  • Gentle crushing and selective destemming
  • 25–30 days’ traditional fermentation in concrete and wooden vats
  • Pneumatic pressing and full malolactic fermentation
  • 20 months in large French oak foudres; bottled unfined and unfiltered

Good to know:

  • Region: Gigondas, Rhône Valley, France
  • Style: Red, full-bodied
  • Closure: Cork
  • Vegan: Yes (unfined)
  • ABV: Approx. 14.5%
  • Vintage: 2023

Why we love it:

This exceptional Gigondas red wine offers the perfect mix of southern Rhône richness and high-altitude precision. Its mineral backbone, long finish and refined tannins make it a brilliant choice for cellaring — or enjoying now with hearty food and good company.
