Get to know: Dom. Giraudon, Bourgogne Rouge Chitry
Tasting Note
A pretty and pure Burgundy from a family owned winery in Chitry-le-Fort, a small village, positioned 12km south west of Chablis. This is a young Pinot Noir offering simple but delicious flavour of fresh raspberries and cherry fruit, a little red liquorice . Light and smooth on the palate making this very easy to drink. It finishes with fresh acidity and chalky tannins.
Try this with paté, a selection of charcuterie or goats cheese.
Kate Says
"Prices for wines from Burgundy's Côte d'Or continue to rise, so it was a joy to find this fresh and vibrant wine that delivers uncomplicated, honest flavour at a reasonable price. I'd enjoy this with platter of charcuterie."
Producer Info
Aurélie and Thibault Giraudon (sister and brother) are the current generation in control at this leading domaine and are very focused on delivering fresh, elegant wines that are uniquely Chitry.
Chitry-le-Fort is a small village, positioned 12km south west of Chablis. The marl and limestone rich kimmeridgian soils are very similar in composition to their
famous neighbour and the vineyards are able to offer tight, mineral Chardonnay, Bourgogne Aligoté and Pinot Noir. They use exclusively stainless steel for
ageing, only natural yeasts are used, and all picking is done by hand.
