Get to know: Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape
A quintessential French red wine from the famed Châteauneuf-du-Pape region in the Southern Rhône Valley.
Tasting Note
Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is a classic, elegant red that showcases the depth and complexity of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Deep ruby in colour with violet highlights, it opens with aromas of black cherry, raspberry, Provençal herbs, and a subtle hint of spice. On the palate, the Grenache-led blend (65% Grenache Noir, with Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault, Clairette, and others) delivers rich red and dark fruit flavours, fine tannins, and a pronounced minerality from the unique rounded stones “galets roulés” terroir. It finishes long, structured, and silky, offering both immediate pleasure and the potential to age gracefully for decades.
Top food pairings:
- Slow-roasted lamb with rosemary and garlic
- Grilled Provençal vegetables and ratatouille
- Mature cheeses such as Comté or aged goat’s cheese
Kate Says
"Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is one of those iconic Châteauneuf-du-Pape producers that really lets the terroir shine. The stony Plateau de la Crau gives the wines their incredible minerality and structure, while the careful Grenache-led blend brings elegance and ripe fruit. Every sip shows the skill and patience of the Brunier family – it’s a red that rewards both now and after years in the cellar."
