Get to know: Diamantakis, Petali Assyrtiko
Tasting Note
One of Greece's top white varieties, Assyrtiko makes wonderfully textured dry whites with lots citrus and minerality. This is a great example from Crete that is a little richer than the super lean style of Santorini, with with fresh apple and lemon aromas along with hints of oregano and thyme. On the palate it is round and zesty acidity with a touch of concrete minerality. The finish is long, rich and complex due to spending 3 months on its lees.
Try with oysters, lean fish, pork, salads.
