The Cabernet Franc/Malbec blend here is a serious wine but very approachable and fruit forward. A satisfyingly ripe, textural expression of Cab Franc and Malbec with real purity of fruit. The nose is fresh and vibrant with crushed red fruits, hints of redcurrant and wild plum with lightly herbal notes plus warm spice of cloves and star anise. This leads to a plush and richly flavoured palate with ripe black fruit, balanced with a savoury mid palate, subtle, gently spicy oak and lifted by juicy acidity. The rich fruit is offset by fine tannins on an attractively chunky finish.

Minimal intervention winemaking is the cornerstone of Wildebergs philosophy, sourcing fruit from the finest vineyards available across the Franschoek and Coastal regions to really expressive a sense of terroir. Natural fermentation and slow, gentle extraction gives wines that maintain a sense of place, arther than winery manipulation. The components are racked to French and Austrian oak, new and old, for 20 months before the blend is decided. This blend is then allowed to marry for 6 weeks prior to coarse filtration and bottling on their farm.
