Chateau la Lagune, Haut-Medoc 2010

Get to know: Château La Lagune, Haut-Médoc 2010

A beautifully structured Bordeaux red wine from the heart of the Haut-Médoc, one of the Médoc’s most respected Grand Cru Classé estates.

Tasting Note

Château La Lagune 2010 is a classic, medium- to full-bodied Bordeaux red that strikes a confident balance between power and finesse. Deep garnet in colour, it opens with layered aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and ripe plum, backed by savoury notes of tobacco leaf, graphite, cedar and a gentle smoky edge from oak ageing. On the palate, Cabernet Sauvignon leads with dark fruit and structure, supported by Merlot’s plush texture and a touch of Petit Verdot spice. Supple, polished tannins and fresh acidity carry through to a long, elegant finish. This is Haut-Médoc at its best – refined, complex and built to age beautifully.

Top food pairings:

  • Roast lamb with rosemary and garlic
  • Grilled ribeye steak or beef wellington
  • Aged hard cheeses such as Comté or mature Cheddar
Kate Says

"This is one of those proper ‘sit down and savour it’ Bordeaux. Give it a bit of air, pour a decent glass, and let it unfold slowly – it really rewards a bit of patience."

Producer Info

Château La Lagune is a historic Third Growth estate in the Haut-Médoc, classified in 1855 and long admired for producing wines that marry elegance with depth. Sitting on well-drained gravel soils close to the Gironde, the château benefits from an ideal terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon, producing wines with structure, freshness and longevity. The estate’s philosophy focuses on precision viticulture and careful oak ageing to let the terroir shine.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
  • Grapes harvested at full phenolic ripeness to balance power and freshness
  • Traditional fermentation with careful extraction to build structure
  • Ageing in French oak barrels to add complexity without overpowering the fruit
  • Extended maturation to refine tannins and enhance ageing potential
