This wine is a field blend of four different grape varieties grown on the granite-rich soils of the Frankstein Grand Cru vineyard and aged in earthenware vessels. As blends aren’t allowed to carry the Grand Cru designation in Alsace, it was named Frankenstein. In the glass it is bold and characterful, delivering exotic mango, ripe pear, and juicy peach, lifted by floral hints and a warming spice of ginger, nutmeg, and vanilla. On the finish it is dry, mineral-driven and has a vibrant freshness that lingers beautifully.
Try this with buttery roast chicken, spiced prawns, roasted squash and tahini salad or with Comté or aged Gouda.
"If you’ve been sleeping on Alsace Riesling, this is the bottle to change your mind. It’s dry but expressive – the kind of wine that makes your mouth water and your brain light up. I love it with seafood or veggie dishes, but honestly, it’s just a joy to sip on its own."
Maison Charles Frey is a pioneer of organic and biodynamic winemaking in Alsace, crafting wines that truly reflect their terroir. Their Pinot Noir Harmonie is a pure, minimal-intervention expression of the grape, highlighting finesse over power.
The winery owns 14 hectares of vines across five distinct terroirs, all of which are managed using biodynamic principles. This approach to vineyard management focuses on creating a self-sustaining ecosystem that enhances soil health and biodiversity.
Field Blend of Riesling, Gewurz, Muscat and Pinot Gris from the Frankstein Grand Cru vineyard crafted with minimal intervention and aged in clay vessels for purity and depth.
