A real conversation-starter, this still Welsh Orange Wine is anything but ordinary. Bursting with bright tangerine and citrus peel, it also carries a lovely earthiness, a hint of spice, and a savoury, orchard-fresh quality. The skin contact gives it a velvety texture with gentle tannins and a long, complex finish. Serve it slightly chilled for the best experience.
Try this with slow-roasted pork belly with crispy crackling, butternut squash and sage risotto, or aged Comté or a nutty, hard sheep’s cheese like Manchego.
"I love wines with a story, and this one’s a proper page-turner. Orange wine can sometimes be quite bold, but this is so well-balanced—tangy, textured, and full of character. It’s got enough depth to stand up to rich food but is fresh enough to sip on its own. A cracking bottle to bring to a dinner party if you want to impress (or intrigue) your friends!"
Ancre Hill Estates is a small but mighty Welsh winery in Monmouthshire, where Richard and Joy Morris have been crafting wines with real heart and soul since 2006. Their 12 hectares of vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, meaning everything is done in harmony with nature—no chemicals, no shortcuts, just pure, expressive winemaking.
This still Orange Wine is made from a blend of Albariño, Chardonnay, Solaris and Ortega grapes. The grapes are left on their skins for up to 50 days, giving the wine its deep golden colour and complex texture. Fermentation happens naturally in oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, and the wine spends ten months ageing on its lees, developing layers of character. No fining, no filtration, no added sulphites—just proper, low-intervention winemaking at its best.
