Rui Madeira, Beyra Reserva Branco 2019

Get to know: Rui Madeira Beyra Reserva Branco 2019

A mineral-driven Portuguese white wine from the high-altitude vineyards of Beira Interior.

Tasting Note

Rui Madeira Beyra Reserva Branco 2019 is a vibrant, characterful white that really delivers in the glass. Tasted in September '25, it’s showing tip-top right now and immediately stood out as one of those “wow” wines. Pale lemon in colour, it bursts with fresh, complex aromas – ripe apple, cucumber (yes, really), sour lemon and sweet lime, all layered over a stony, lightly smoky mineral core. On the palate it’s energetic and playful, bouncing left, right and centre with bright citrus, crisp orchard fruit and mouthwatering acidity. There’s real structure here too, giving depth and balance, and making this a seriously good-value Portuguese white wine that’s as fun as it is impressive.

Top food pairings:

  • Fresh oysters, prawns or mussels
  • Fatty fish such as salmon or mackerel
  • Cured goat’s cheese or simple seasonal veg dishes
Kate Says

"This is one of those whites that really makes you stop and pay attention. It’s showing beautifully right now and offers so much wine for the money. It’s fresh, complex and a bit of a roller coaster in the best way. A brilliant choice for when you want a white that feels thoughtful rather than just refreshing."
