Ecker-Eckhof, Gruner Veltliner von Eckhof 2024

Get to know: Ecker-Eckhof, Grüner Veltliner von Eckhof

A crisp, peppery Organic Grüner Veltliner from a family-run estate in Austria’s Wagram region.

Tasting Note

This is classic Grüner - dry and refreshing with notes of green apple, citrus peel and just a touch of white pepper on the finish. There’s a nice weight to the wine too, with a subtle minerality and a clean, zippy finish that makes it endlessly drinkable. The kind of white you’ll keep going back to, whether you’re midweek sipping or pairing with food.

Top food pairings:

  • Spiced courgette fritters with yoghurt dressing
  • Chicken schnitzel or crispy pork belly
  • Cheese: young goats’ cheese or creamy Brie-style
Kate Says

“Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s go-to grape for a reason, and this one nails it. It’s clean, bright and dry with that lovely peppery twist on the finish. Super versatile, especially with lighter dishes and veggie plates.”

Producer Info

Ecker-Eckhof is a family winery based in Wagram, a region known for its loess soils and ideal climate for Grüner Veltliner. The Eckers have been farming these vineyards for generations, with current winemaker Bernhard Ecker continuing the tradition using sustainable methods and low-intervention techniques.

The 2024 vintage comes from estate vineyards grown on south-facing slopes. Grapes are hand-harvested for optimal ripeness, gently pressed and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel to retain freshness and purity. No oak, no fuss - just classic Grüner made with care.

How it’s made:

  • 100% Grüner Veltliner from loess-rich soils in Wagram
  • Hand-harvested and fermented at cool temperatures
  • Aged in stainless steel to preserve freshness and aromatics
  • Sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention in the cellar

Why we love it:

This is Grüner Veltliner at its best - clean, dry and characterful. It’s great on its own but also a brilliant match for food, especially veggie, chicken and Asian-inspired dishes. A proper all-rounder and a fridge-door essential.
